A tall leopard walked out of the room, his head hung low as he looked at two furry, shark like creatures. The two looked up at him, twins down to their every marking. The only difference was their eyes. Both heterocromia each with one blue and one brown eye, however they were on different sides. Their black dorsal fur was thick and lush, as where their under bellies were a smooth silver. They stood next to each other looking up at the large cat before them. He hung his head looking at the little ones. They would survive, but it would be hard. He bent down, a small bundle in his arms. His older knees popped with stiffness as he got to the twins.

"This is your new baby sister, Navy." He inclined down to the infant fur covered creature as he held her toward the two. "Sadly, your mother didn't make it. However Jenny will happily set you all up with a nice place to live." He smiled softly trying not to scare the young sergals. His age was showing and he was starting to see too much heartbreak in one day and he wondered if he just needed to retire. The infant struggled in her own blankets as her new sisters came close to get a good look at her. She looked like their mother, heavy black fur coated her head and back, a velvet deep blue coated her underbelly.

Jenny, a resident nurse who had been keeping the twins company, walked over and crouched down by the small sergal family. Her thick wolf fur was still a dark grey with beautiful rust markings. Her voice was soft and her touch was gentle. Her paws rested on the twins shoulders. "Come on girls, we will find somewhere for you to go when this is all settled." For once her tone was sad. The two older girls looked at each other, matching eyes meeting as they wondered what she really meant. The girls were still very young, only 5, they still had a lot to learn about growing up. Jenny softly led them back toward the waiting room and sat them on a very soft couch. "Now you two just sit here for a few moments, I will go get you some blankets and some food alright? I'll be right back." She patted them softly on the head as she turned to go retrieve the items. Her soft paw pads quickly fell away from earshot.

"What do you think this will mean Raven?" The one twin looked at the other; however her left blue eye and right brown eye never met her sisters face. Her head hung low as her voice was shallow. Ears pinned against her head. "I mean sure, I'm happy to have Navy in our lives," Her voice got softer, somehow. "But without mom, I don't know what we are going to do."

Her sister took her hand softly. "Crowe, it's going to be ok no matter what. I'm here and we can figure it out together. Besides, the doctor said Jenny will help us." Raven sat there, fighting back her own tears. Her sister needed her, well sisters now she guessed. Navy didn't have anyone. Her mind quickly got lost in her own thoughts.

Jenny quickly came back into the waiting room. She softly knelt down in front of the twins. "You girls ok?" She asked softly. They both nodded quietly. To scared and shy to say much more. The wolf smiled at the two and handed each a sandwich. "Here you girls go, they are turkey, I hope thats ok, if not I can go get you something else."

"No Miss Jenny, these will be just fine, thank you." Crowe responded. She flashed her eyes back to her sister who just sat there holding her sad witch. Tears were in the corners of her eyes, and Crowe knew she would just shell up inside herself. "Here Ray, lets eat at the table over here." She tried to sound excited as her drug her sister over.

Raven responded more to her nickname than to any other words. "Okay." She stated with a half-smile as the two girls shuffled over to the table. It had been a long two days that they had been there, and they were so thankful that the nurse and doctor were so nice. Raven sat down and scarfed her sandwich before Crowe was even half done with her own.

Jenny quickly went about making a make-shift bed out of the couch the girls just abandon with all the blankets she brought. When the two were done eating they happily settled onto the couch and snuggled up together, tails twisting together as they have always done. Jenny smiled at them as she stood up. All to focus on the twins she missed the doctors soft paws coming up behind her.

"Jenny, I'm going to wash up and change, how are the girls?" He asked softly as he looked down at the two snuggled up together. He smiled. He then suddenly felt a wave of sorrow wash over himself. He missed out on that type of life. He decide to help people, he went to school and worked his tail off to get his degree. He didn't have time for family. He sighed inwardly. Here he was, sad and alone, while these three little girls have just lost their mother and they are still holding it together. Either sergals were stronger than he imagined, or they were special.

"They are just fine Dr. Carter. They have each other, however I'm not too sure how they will hold up once all this adoption process starts," She paused and drew in a heavy breath. "They might not be able to keep all three together." She looked down with a sad face. Tears swelling up in her golden eyes. They say in medical school to never get attached, they never tell you how not to. Some cases just seem to steal your heart.

"Jenny, I think I will be putting my two weeks in." He took in a deep breath. "Also, I will need the papers for all three children. In the morning we can all go home." He smiled at his longtime friend and co-worker. He lived alone for all his life and dedicated himself to his work; he had more than enough money and resources to give all three girls a nice place to grow up. Jenny didn't say a word; she just smiled and threw her arms around him letting a few tears roll down her face.
Just something I came up with about  :icontwilightsaint:'s, and :iconcalicocougar:'s and my sergals. Hope you all enjoy.
